Two Moms on the Run

One foot infront of another...Sometimes that's what you have to do to reach your long run goals. We managed to make our goal of running 8 miles. I still can't believe it. The longest run both of us as ever done. We managed to start off by the dog park and made it to Bentonville Farmers Market. The feeling was so amazing. I really wished we had a camera to prove it to everyone. The people at the market were just starting at us and asking us if we had been running? Duh! We did take a little bit of a break to walk around the farmers market. We are trying to score a good deal of peaches to put up in cans. Anyway, no good deals but we did reach our goal. We turned around and headed back to the dog park. No weird leg pain this time. We actually ended up seeing close to four deer while on the trail. I love it. It really makes the running jounrey more fun. It's not so fun running past the waste management facility. I always try to run a little bit faster so we don't have to smell all the human waste in the air. It's seriously gross. We didn't have the fastest time but it was decent. I figured it was close 11 mile mile. We wouldn't be doing a long run next week. Next weekend, we have a 5k race on Sat and a 10k race on Monday. So, we are going to focus on hills and speed training for the rest of this week to get us ready for the two races.

Extra Motivation

I found out last night, Leroy is taking me to Hawaii in a couple of weeks. We are thinking about going mid-Oct. I'm not sure if we can even plan out a whole trip but we are going to try. We will be flying first class. I have never flown first class but it should be fun. It's not fun being cramped in those airline seats. Leroy really wants to fly over to the big island and do a 18 mile hike together. So, I'm all geared up to work on losing a couple more pounds. Oh, I'm so excited. So, I'm off to workout this morning. Any ideas, of things we should do? We use to live on Oahu but I'm not really sure about the big island?

Dieting Woes

I noticed today my clothes weren't fitting right. I decided to try on my size 4 jeans and they don't fit. I couldn't even zip them up. So, I'm sitting here kicking myself. I thought I could just eat whatever I wanted but that's not happening anymore. I need to seriously, start a food journal again and keep myself accountable.

Don't double Up

Due to canning fresh grape juice. I ended up having to miss my running session last night. In hindsight, I should of workout first thing in the morning instead of waiting until the evening. Well, I started juicing my grapes around 1:00pm and didn't finish until close to 9:00pm. So, I ended up having to double up on my workouts. I did my C.E. dvd workout and I decided to hit the treadmill. I'm so exhausted. I don't feel awesome like I did last week when I did three workout sessions in a row. I'm still tired from all of my canning. So, I'm done with my workout and back on schedule! I'm going to spend the rest of the day cleaning up the house. The kids managed to destory it while I was busy in the kitchen canning.

Two Mom's On The Run...

This morning, I stepped outside with my keys in hand to go running with my friend Meg. My running partner is out of town this week. I was surprised to see my friend waiting outside to pick me up. She decided to surprise me. Wow, what a great way to start off the morning.

We managed to drag ourselves out of bed before the sun was even up. It was dark but getting lighter outside. We decided to be brave and run for seven miles. That's the longest run I have ever done. We decided to take a nice slow pace or it was slow pace for me.

Half thru the run, we had to go up this massive hill. Ouch!! It was a killer. It was so nice, to be able to turn around and go downhill. We ended up kicking some serious butt.

The last mile or two it was getting tough. My hamstring was killing me. I don't know why but it was starting to thorb.

We pushed ourselves hard at the end. Finished it. Seven Miles!!!!!!!!!!! Next week, we will be running eight miles.

So, I'm home alone. Meg dropped me off and Leroy took the kids somewhere. So, I have the morning to myself. Yes!!!!!!

Off to take a nice long shower.

I can't seem to get enough!

I just love the feeling I get after running or just plain exercising. I love it!

I told myself to cut back on my workout routine but I can't seem to. I think, I might have a problem.

I walked around the lake with the two little ones. Landon started first grade this morning. So, we dropped him off and headed for the lake. It was a cross between jogging and walking. Logan can go in either extremes: fast or slow on his bike.

We ended up spending about two hours at the lake. Playing in the sand box and throwing rocks into the creek. A perfect morning.

We came back home and had a nice lunch with my homemade bread. Yummy!

I decided to go ahead and do another C.E. video: Push Circuit 2! I was lifting some of my heaviest weights. I was bench pressing 17.5 pound weights. I was feeling strong.

Well, I still had enegry to burn. So, I jumped on my treadmill. I decided to try out the 300 calorie burn program. I tried the program a couple of months ago but it was way tooooooo fast. So, I decided to give it another try.

I did awesome. I didn't have to stop once. I was running my fastest ever on the treadmill. 7.3 mphs. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! My pace was averaging between 8:50 to 9:40 minute mile. So, three miles in 30 minutes. I feeling really good!

Wow, talk about being on a high. A running high. This is why, I love to run. I'm not sure what it is but some time of high. I'm addicted.

I need some one to talk some sense into me.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta hit the shower!

Weight Loss Journey

Earlier this year, I started on my weight loss journey. I slowly started to run on my treadmill. I was running like a 30 minute mile. I as sooooo slow. In this picture, I had lost close to ten pounds. I also was just about to start training for my first 5k.

Fast forward to last month, I lost close to 10 more pounds. I also recieved my first award for coming in second place in the firecracker 5k run. I was so proud of myself.
Last night, I was finally able to squeeze my little body into size 4 jeans right before the race. I still can't believe. I had an amazing night of running and with great friends. All of these ladies are such an inspiration to me. Vera started running a couple of years ago and managed to lose close to 64 pounds. Wow, I didn't know that until last night.
I'm almost back to my skinny self. I still can't believe, I let my weight get out of control. I was always super skinny growing up. I could eat what ever I wanted and not a gain a pound. Not true anymore. I'm still training and working out hard. I'm still hoping to finish my first half marathon in less than two months.

Last night, I ended up breaking my personal record! I'm not sure of my time but it was some where around 27:30! I'm not sure about my time because I was sprinting in so hard so because this guy next to me didn't want to be bet by a girl. I didn't get a good look at the clock. I seriously had the best run yet I didn't even really have to push myself. It came all very naturally, I probably should of kept up with my running partner but I decided not to maybe next time. My next race is another 5k and hopefully I will be able to bet my time again and set a new personal record.

PR

My best time yet, 27:30!

skinny Jean

I ordered a pair of size 4 jeans off of ebay to help me stay motivated in losing weight. I decided to try them to see if they even fit. I managed to get them on. They are super tight around the waist but they fit. I don't think I can sit down or bend over. So, my new motiviation to get comfortably into my new Gap jeans.

Schedule For The Week

Starting this week, I'm giving myself permission to cut back on C.E. I already completed over 90 days on the program. I ended up reaching all of my goals. I really wanted to complete the full 120 days of the program but I feel like its starting to interfere with my running program.

I will be running my first 10k in less than three weeks. I'm also running my first half marathon this Oct. C.E. program is leaving me overworked and it's affecting my running. My back was killing me on my long run due to overworking with my weights doing weightlifting. I'm not planning on running so hard during the winter months. So, I'm going to go easy with C.E. and focus more on running. Than, I will cut back on my running during the winter months and focus on my running again. I'm going to have to trade off on my execrise program.

This is the plan for this week:

Workout

m: Recharge dvd & 5k race
t: Burn Circuit 2
w. intervals-lake bella vista
th: Push Circuit 3
F:Lean Circuit 3
S: Long run 8 miles

total runs: 15 miles

Food, Food, & Food!

I'm working on redoing my food intake. I figured I can eat about 1600 calories each day. I'm still working on improving my diet. I completely felled off the wagon. I have been eating what my kids are eating. Bad idea. I'm going to be working on recreating a new game plan.

Long Run...

I don't recommend staying up late watching a baseball game with a firework show at the end of the game. This was a first time taking the kids to a real minor league baseball game. The kids had a blast but the aftermath wasn't pretty.

I laid out all of the running shoes and clothes before going to bed. Good thing, I did because I was so tired. I think it took me close to 5 minutes just to tie my shoelaces. My running partner lives close to me so she picked up this morning. Just like clockwork. I was sitting outside waiting for her. Off we went to Bentonville trail to do a nice six mile run.

The weather was perfect. Nice and cool! No humidity at all. The sun was just barely starting to rise. Seriously, the most perfect time to run. Saturday is the only day of the week we are able to run in the morning. I really hate running in the evenings but Leroy's work schedule doesn't allow us to go in the morning during the week.

The start on the run was super slow like 11 minute miles. We were so tired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My running partner was at the same baseball game. I really need to work on getting a better night of the sleep before running. It was hard. Really hard.

Slowly but surely we started to pick up on speed. Surprisingly, half way back on the trail we ended up catching our second wind. We started to pick up the speed. I was determined not to fall behind Tia. My back started to act up. I need to be more careful with my weightlifting. I was running fast just to get the whole run over.

We ended up making an impressive finish! A nice strong finish! The ending pace was close to 9:00 minute mile. Off, we were on the way home. I was surprised to make it home before 8:00am. I climbed back into bed and took a short nap.

Also, I managed to lose another pound without even trying.

note: 6 miles in 63 minutes!

update!

I managed to lose one more pound!

125.5 pounds

Girl's Night Out

Last night, I was finally able to get out of the house and go out to the movies with some girlfriends from church. We show the new movie called "julie and julia" which is AWESOME! I can't wait to try some Julia Child french recipes. I didn't think I would be laughing as much as I was. It was a total chick flick and lots of cheering for the two ladies. I don't want to give too much away about the movie. It was well worth: $8.50!

After wards, we decided to stop off at Braum's for ice cream. I decided I would be naughty and order a double scoop of peanut butter cup ice cream waffle cone. My eyes were way bigger than my stomach. I wish I had taken a picture of the cone it was massive. I start into my cone only to feel completely sick to my stomach about eating soooooo much ice cream. I ended up eating the top scoop of ice cream and I ended up throwing away the rest of the cone.

I was super surprised of myself. Normally, I would of eaten the whole thing but I didn't need to. After a few bites, I was completely satisfied.

So, I worked out to two videos this morning and I"m feeling good.

I have a long run, tomorrow morning with my running partner and hopefully some other sisters from church will come join us. We will be running 6 miles.

Pushups!!!!!!!!!

Chalene is killing me! So many pushups. I'm trying to do tricep pushup here! Logan decided it would be fun to take pictures of my butt while working out. I could of killed him. I'm not in the greatest form but i'm determined to get these tricep pushups done the correct way. They are just sooooo hard. I can do regular pushups but these are a killer. I told myself I wasn't going to do C.E. today becuase I'm doing speed training tonight but I can't seem to stop C.E. I'm so addicted. My morning seem really strange without doing a workout video in the morning.

Also, my glutes and hamstrings are killing me. I really need to do some serious strenching before night's run.

I did it!

I finally completed Chalean Extreme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ended up having to take two breaks from the program due to vacation time.

So, I'm done and doing it again!

I still need to take the fit test, pictures, and write up my review to submit online.

The deadline is Sept 1st!

I need to get busy.

I ended up being able to do 6 pushups on my toes and 6 on my knees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm feeling like superwoman.

p.s. I just bought brand new jeans last week. Well, the jeans are already too big on me. I might possibly be able to fit into a size 4!

I'm not dropping any weight but getting leaner and stronger.

Cancelled due to weather...

Well, I just got back from the 5k race in Rogers that ended up being cancelled due to the thunderstorm! My running buddy was a little bit freaked out by the storm and wanted to head home but I really wanted to get back on a high school track to workout. We ended up doing about 10 laps around the track. After the first two laps, the running club was keeping track of the time. I ended up with a pretty fast time of 13:00 minutes. I'm pretty sure, I was averaging about 8 minute mile or less. My partner thinks it was even less. I didn't have my watch so I can't say for sure. I did managed to finish super strong. I did a real hard sprint at the end. The race has been reschedule for next Monday. I can't wait...

Running

I'm going to be running in a 5k tomorrow evening. This will be my first twilight run! It's going to be strange for me to run a race in the evening. I'm really worried about over doing it during the day and being tired by the time the race starts. I don't feel like I have been pushing myself lately. I need to kick it up a notch with my running partner. We also have a 10k coming up in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm really worried about starting out to fast and burning out big time at the end of the race. So, wish me luck for tomorrow. I also pulled a muscle a couple of days ago. It still hurts. I'm also still debating weather I should workout in the morning or just take it easy. I always work out CE on Mondays so its really hard for me to skip a workout.

Also, my eating habits are horrible at the moment. I'm still doing good in the weight department. I don't want to gain any weight back. Also, I think I need to detox my body again. Way too much junk due to the birthday party.

Look'n Good!!!!!!!

Totally a shameless and bragging post!

One of my goals, when I started Chalean Extreme was to get back into size 6 jeans. I was wearing size 10/12 jeans when I started the program. I put on a pair of my size 8 jeans today and discovered they were way too big. I ended up stopping off at Gap and decided to try on a pair of 6's. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I still can't believe but I fit into 6's!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't worn this size in like 8 plus years. I'm soooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!!

I have lost almost a total of 24 pounds. I'm done several dress sizes.

Counting Down...

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stepped on the scale this morning after working out. I weigh my lowest weight ever 126.5 pounds. I'm soooooo excited. Chalean was right. This is the lean month and I'm getting sooooooooooooooooo lean. I'm almost done with the first 90 days. I love the LEAN month. Can I just do the Lean month forever!!!!!!!!! My select tech weights are AWESOME! I'm lifting close to 15 to 17.5 pounds of weights. I feel so strong and amazing. I can't wait to try on a pair of size 6 jeans that's my goal. I might be able to squeeze into a pair. My hips are huge from giving birth three times. I really want to get down one more size.

I just finished doing Intervals! I feel great. I'm not running tonight. I ended up rubbing my legs raw in the inside from my shorts rubbing against my thighs. Ouch!!!!!!!!!! I don't why that happened. I never had that problem before.

A Must Read Article

I'm currently struggling to figure out how much water and food. I should be eating to properly fuel my body. All of this exercise and running is really throwing my body off. I feel like I'm eating to much but its all a guessing game for me. I still want to be able to lose weight but I don't want to loss muscles.

Welcome to the world of un-processed foods! We’ve lived this way for almost 10 years now and feel better than we ever have. It’s a huge process and life style change so like previous posters have recommended, take it slow.

1. Start reading labels today and for now don’t worry about what all the ingredients mean. When trying to decide what to buy, look at how many ingredients are listed. Is there a brand that has less? Most sour cream’s have 11-15 ingredients but Daisy Sour Cream only has 1 (cultured cream). Buy Daisy. Also look at what the ingredients are. If you can pronounce all of them and know what they are, then that brand is a better choice than the one that has 10 ingredients that sounds like a foreign language. Flavored potato chips can have 30 ingredients in them but plain Ruffles chips have 3. Pick the plain chips over the flavored. This is an easy way to get started eating less processed foods.

2. You don’t have to buy the most expensive brand of product (the generic brand generally has less ingredients and flavor enhancers than the name brand). Just pay attention to which brand has a shorter ingredient list with less weird ingredients. Take notes when you find a brand you like.

3. Add more fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables to your plate.

4. Pick 3 of your most processed favorite meals and work on finding a way to make them yourself, from scratch, so they don’t have all the flavor enhancers that you are trying to avoid. Once you get those 3 recipes replaced, pick 3 more new dishes to try. Don’t try to change too much from your diet at once. Just work slowly at replacing each product and favorite meal.

I have a recipe blog that uses unprocessed ingredients. Feel free to look there for ideas or post a comment if you need help with any recipe or finding a replacement recipe.

Good luck!

Holy Cow!

I just stepped off the scale and weigh my lowest weight ever!

128

I have been eating like crazy lately! I'm not straving myself. My body needs food and fuel! Lots of it! I seriously, thought this morning I would of gained weight but nope! I lost another pound! Last week, I weighed 131 and I'm now done to 128! I'm eating everything in site. Wow, muscle does burn fat!

I have lots of muscle!

I also need to get some weight lifting gloves. I thought a couple of times during my work out I was going to drop my select tech weights. I need to find out where I can pick up a pair. Any ideas?
