Mother and Son Running Team

How to kick start the Memorial Day weekend...with a 5k race with my son. I wasn't going to let him run with me becuase last time he kept pulling on my arm trying to get me to slow down. I wasn't happy with him. So, I told him he could run in the fun run mile. He hates running in those one mile runs becuase he thinks that those runs are for babies. Please remember, my son is only 7!

Well, we managed to get up early and head out for the race. I still was on the fence whether I should let him run with me or not. I had a stern talking to him that he would not be running with me. If he couldn't keep up he would have to run by himself. He agree...also no arm pulling.

So, I spent the $40 dollars and sign up the two of us. I really wish it wasn't so expensive. Well, it started of being a nice cool morning but as soon as the race started it started to heat up. We started off...and of course Landon said I was going to fast. ARGHHH!!!!!! I reminded him we weren't running together. I know you'll think I might be mean not slowing down for him but we had an agreement. This race course is one of the fastest course in our area. I wanted to beat my PR! So, he slow down and ended up running a good part of the race with my friend "P"!

As, I came up to the one mile marker. The guy was reading off the time...wow did he just say 8:40. Holy cow...I was smoking hot. I must of slow down afterwards but I'm not sure. It started to get super hot and humid outside. I was trying to keep up with a girl from Rush Running. She's a few years older than me but we are the same height, weight, and built. So, I kept my eyes on her and kept on running.

The second mile was a killer up and down a hill...total sun. They had one water station and I grabbed my cup of water and dump it on top of my head. Oh, did it feel good. I kept on running. I think I started to slow down around the third mile. I kept on pushing. I finally made it back to finish line. I saw the clock read 27:45...Oh, crap! I decided to kick it up into third gear. I managed to finish at 28:05! So, I made my goal but I really would of love to come in under 28 minutes. I was so proud of myself.

I was about to go back and get my backpack so I could take a picture of Landon crossing the finish line. Well, as soon as I turn around...he came right thru the finish line. Holy Cow...my son was running right behind me the whole time. The litttle guy finish a few seconds right after me.

He came in second place for his age group and I came in first place for my age group. I was so shock! I thought maybe 2nd or 3rd place but not 1st place. I was so happy. All of my hardwork is paying off and I love running with my new running club.

LIFE IS GOOD!

5k PR 28:40
2nd Place for his age (11 and under) group
5k PR 28:05
1st place for my age (31-34) group

Week 7 Update

Push Phase is working...I'm only on Week 7 and I'm already starting to see some serious muscles especially in my shoulders! I can't wait until I finish all 12 weeks on the program. I feel stronger than ever. No wonder my eating is out of control. I got some serious muscles. I need fuel to fuel this body. I even managed to lift using 15 lbs for most of the shoulder execrises like arnold press and frontal press. I love FAILING! Failing while during E.C. means success not failure. My arms were shaking so hard. Life is GOOD!

Here's my little girl. She's a big fan of Chalean Extreme. She loves to jump in and work out with me using the bands. It's so cute. Plus my daugther kicks butt. She doesn't put up with any crap. She can put her brothers in their places.

Six Miles

Six miles...the hardest six miles ever!
My friend P, basically guilted me into running with her this morning. It was funny becuase she sleep in and ended up being late. We managed at a super slow pace and some how managed to drag ourselves back to the parking lot. It took us about one hour and fifteen minutes. Most of been all of that junk we ate at the company picnic...free funnel cake, snow cones, bbq, and I had two big lemonades. I know...it was really bad of me. We were both paying for it this morning.
Junk food equals crappy run!
No, I still haven't pick any strawberries. I'm now hoping to go on Monday.

Rough Week, again!

I have managed to gain another pound this week. It's really hard to eat healthily. Last night, Logan had his Preschool Class Program. I seriously had like four chocolate chip cookies. I felt really dumb when I realize it was only me and the kids eating the cookies. None of the other moms were pigging out on the cookies. Seriouslly, no self control. So, I'm going to try to be good over the weekend and start over again next week:(

Also, I decided to drive out to TN pulling the camper by myself. I really wanted to fly my dad out to help me with the driving but I decided it would be good to push myself again. I can be the biggest baby ever. I'm going to suck it up and do it by myself. I don't need a man to help me with every little thing in my life. I'm going to take two days to drive the whole trip. It's fourteen hours. I'm going to make a couple of stops a long the way with the kids to break up the trip and stay over night in Jacksonville, TN.

The trip is almost plan out. My mom booked the campground in Williamsburg becuase she can get a senior discount. I still need to call later on today for the campgrounds in the Outer Banks. Hopefully, my sister and her husband can join us at the outer banks for a couple of days. They live in Maryland. So, we will be gone for the month of July.

I seriously can't wait to hit the beach in my new beach body. If I could just get the food thing under control. I really good in the morning and at lunch but I seem to go down hill in the evenings.

I'm going to spend the rest of the day in the yard. So, I'm sure to burn a bazillion calories today.

Big Blue

Last night, I plan out my whole day. I knew I had a lot of things to juggle. I had to make cupcakes for Logan's preschool class, workout, read scriptures, and had over to the church to fill/pick up my food storage order. Everything was going according to plan. I finally managed to get everyone and everything loaded up to go but I couldn't get the van to start. Dead battery! What to do????? No way, I could just have Logan skip school or not go to church. The only option left was to take the big blue beast.

I have never driven my hubby's truck before let me state this again "MY HUBBY'S TRUCK"...Leroy left his cell phone at home and I had to drop if off at another office location. I really didn't want to take his truck but I did it. Logan was so shock when I told him we were taking daddy's truck. Logan was like " you can drive dad's truck". Well, I guess it can't be too hard. This truck is massive. I'm talking about Ford F 350, crew cab, 4x4, and did I mention it's a diesil.

I just kept telling myself. I could do it and hopefully without ruining it. This truck is like driving a semi. We said a quick prayer and headed out to drop of Logan. Yes, I did let the truck for a few minutes before pulling out. Well, Logan was shouting out of the truck window that his mom was driving his daddy's truck. He was so proud of me. I could barely reach the pedals. This is a real man's truck. Well, I had to get on the interstate and head over to Leroy's office. Well, I pull up in the truck and he just about died. He couldn't believe it. You should of seen the look of shock on his face. He gave me some tips. I'm gald I didn't run around town in it becuase the truck started to buck. Time to switch over the gas tanks. Yes, I did it. We managed to swing by the church and dry pack most of my food storage order. I just wanted to thank three of my friends for coming by the church to help me. I didn't even ask for help...they just decided to stop off and help me. I love having great friends. Some of my closest friends at church are in the over 60 crowd. I just love them! So, I loaded up the truck and headed home. Oh no, another challenge. I had to back up the truck and drive it down the sidedrive way to the basement. Remember, I live on the Lake. A steep downhill with a sharp turn. I had to do this all by myself with my head turnback to make sure I didn't hit the house or go off the driveway. I was shaking in my boots. I just kept telling myself not to listen to my negative self talk but to talk in a postive voice. Well, I did it. I managed to safely get it to the back side of the house and get the food unloaded. I have pictures to prove it. I also learned how to dry pack my food which I have never done before. My other friend just called and she's coming over to help me seal all of my mylar bags. Yes, life is good. Leroy was shock to see me driving his truck he had to take a picture of me behind the wheel!

So, you might be wondering what does driving a truck and execrise have to do with each other. A lot...I have notice that lifting weights and running has made me so much mental stronger. I would of never attempted to drive my hubby's truck becuase the thing scares me. I suck it up and did it. I overcame one of my fears. I push myself...just like I do when I work out! If your struggling with self-confidence than start working out. You will discover how strong you really are.

Food storage!

munchies

I try realy hard not to eat after 7:00pm. Well, last night...at book group. I decided to go ahead and have a couple of treats. Oh, boy! Did I pay for it later on. Last night, I could hardly sleep my stomach was really bothering me. Too much food...way too late at night. Next time, I need to be a little stronger and resist the tempation. Feel'n like equals not enough goodnight sleep which is making me feel crappy. Really wish they didn't serve food at every church function. It's really hard on the body. I haven't lost any weight this week. I really need to work on my diet. I really would like to cut back on all white food products like white bread and rice but I just love those carbs maybe next week.

Push Circuit

I loves this circuit. It's my favorite. It's during this push circuit that you really start to see the muscles building. Not the greatest pictures...my three year old really trys hard like I said she's 3! Well, I'm really pleased with my progress. I managed to gain a couple of pounds last week due to family being in town. I thought it would be fun to make homemade bread yesterday...I ended up eating a loaf by myself. Dumb!!!!!! I'm really regretting it now. It's really hard to back in the swing of things. My friend called this morning to go strawberry picking. I told her "NO" which was really hard because I need to stay home and get my workout in. I know if I would of gone picking I wouldn't of workout later on in the day. So, progress is coming. The working out part is going good but the diet is really bad at the moment. I really don't want to even cook but then my family ends up suffering. Okay, I got to go finish up the burns interval video and finish up the gardening bed.

Goals

I'm hoping to drop about two pounds this week. Family reunions are brutal especially when you're stuck cooking for the whole family. It was fun...but know it times to get back into the swing of things.
Eating crap isn't worth it. It just leaves you feel'n sluggish. Last night, I was munching away on some potato chips and after a couple of chips...I had to put it away. Gross...junk food is crap. I'm going on a cleanse. All fruits and veggies for me. I need to pull out my juicer and get busy.
Also...I just plan my summer vacation with the kids no hubby. My hubby doesn't like travel plus a party pooper. He just like to hang out in his garage and work on cars. A total homebody. I'm headed out to the OUTER BANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait! I want to look really good while at the beach. Last time, we went to Gulf Shores and I was my old fat self. It was really embarrassing...I wouldn't post the pictures. Leroy went clothes shopping with me to get a new swimsuit and clothes for the trip. I had to go with a whole size larger than I normally wear. I was still in denial about my weight that was back in 2008! This time...no elastic pants for me at the beach. Also, we are going to Williamsburg VA, Jamestown, Monticello, and a water park before heading down to the Outer Banks NC.

Bentonville Gold Rush

Inspiration...where does it come from? It comes from over coming challegnes that come our way. My sister discovered that she had breast cancer almost exactly one year ago. She is almost done with all of her treatments. Hopefully, it will never come back. When we have to face horrible situations and we have to head them straight on and meet the challenge that is when character is built.

I decided to start running in honor of my sister. I did my first 5k run for the Susan G. Komen last year. I wasn't able to attend that race this year due to schedule issues. I was so happy when I found out that my sister would like to run in this race tonight with us. My sister isn't fit enough at this point to run 5k but she ran one mile with my youngest son Logan. They ended up running out of bid numbers which really bum my sister but they will mail her a t-shirt which they also manage to run out of as well. A bazillion people were at this race. CRAZY!!!!!!!

Logan ran the whole mile by himself. He literally sprinted the whole thing. My poor sister could barely keep up with him. My sister was very proud of herself. She had a big smile on her face. When she gets back home, she wants to start working out.

Landon and I ran in the 5k race together. Originally, Landon was suppose to run with Logan but he wanted to run the 5k. The 5k was sold out so I had him run with me. The race started out slow...a ton of people. Landon kept grabbing my arm trying to slow me down. I told him if he could keep up to just run by himself. Slowly, I managed to increase my speed. I started off super slow but I kick it into gear.

As I approach the finish line...I saw the clock. Wow...my time was better than expected. I thought for sure I would have a horrible time but I didn't. It's not my best time but it was a big improvement over my last 5k race.

I came in at 29: 16 and Landon came in at 29:40!

Also, I thought Landon was way behind me but he wasn't the little guy was right behind my heels. I'm so proud of all of my sons and my sisters.

Inspiring each other is the greatest gift we can give each other. Getting fit as a family is AWESOME.

If we could only get my husband on board. His all muscle and fit but he can't run for anthing.

My sister and her husband are driving home tonight back to Chicago. I'm going to bed!

It's hard

I cooking for 16 people at the moment. I mean cooking and baking. I'm literally in the kitchen all day long preparing all of the food. It's a huge task. The temptation is great. I haven't gain any weight yet but it's really hard to be good when your making your awesome Chocolate Sheet Cake and homemade french vanilla icecream. It's going to be so hard to be good. Yikes...I'm going to have to make some really good choices and keep my hands so busy I wouldn't be tempted to jam my face with food. I just finish prepping to make a huge crockpot full of sloppy joe for dinner tomorrow. It's going to be an easy dinner. We're going to the Animal Safari and Natural's ball game!

Blast From The Past

This picture was taken Xmas 2008! We had a big family reunion here with all of my family. This was the picture that made me want to lose the weight. I'm at my heaviest weight 150 pounds. I didn't gain this weight from having three kids. Oh no...I gain this from not taking time for myself. I was so busy giving myself completely to my kids and hubby that I gain a huge amount of weight. When we got the pictures back...I was shocked. This is the picture that made me want to make myself a priority.

s
Well, we're having another family reunion this week. I'm so excited to see my whole family again even my brother and his family are coming from England. They're moving back to the states. Yippee!!! Well, here I'm now a lot cuter and skinner.

Current weight: 128 pounds
