Rockin' Body

As soon as I got back from running around the lake. The mailman dropped off a package for me. I wasn't sure what video it was but I was excited to see it was my new Shaun T. workout video.

I really wasn't tired at all from my four mile run. I really took it way too slow. I really need a running buddy again. I can't seem to push myself hard enough by myself. Anyone want to be my running friend?

Well, I pop in the new dvd...it was very interesting. This video is set up to be like attending a live concert. I wasn't sure how I would feel about it. It had a very different feel to it compared to hip hop abs.

It turned out to be a killer workout. My abs were burning the whole time. I thought I was going to die halfway thru the video. This workout is way harder than hip hop abs. I wouldn't recommend jumping into rockin body without completing hip hop abs.

Overall, I was sweating more in this video than I did running for an hour outside. I can't wait to do it again. Shaun T.'s enegry is AWESOME!!!!! The music is really good and the workout goes by super fast.

Back To My Old Self

No Foot Pain
2 times around Lake Bella Vista,
Plus I went down that side path,
I'm not sure how many miles I did but I'm sure it was
close to 4 miles or more!
Back to My old self...
Also, I'm going to run six miles tomorrow.
I want to ring in the new year by running 10 miles.

Results!

Tonight, Leroy said he could see the top part of my abs really good. I ran to the mirror to check it out. I have the top part of a six part showing!!!!!! Eight weeks of hard work is starting to pay off. If I could just get rid of the excess skin. It's okay it's going to happen.

Too funny...

Today, I did the silliest thing ever. While passing out marshmallows to the kids to put into their hot cocoa drinks. I managed to put a whole handful of marshmallows into my mouth without realizing it. I hate when I do things like that wonder how I got fat in the first place. It had nothing to do with being pregnant but mindlessly over eating.

Day Three

I really want a piece of TOFFEE!

I'm holding strong...but the stupid bag is calling my name.

It's on top of the fridge.

Still holding strong.

Tempation.

It's hard...say'n a prayer to be strong.

Dreadmill

I started off wanting to workout to hip hop abs but discovered that the dvd player wasn't hookup to the tv. Don't you hate when your plans get mess up. So, the only other option was to run on the dreadmill. I decided to run for one full hour. The most I have ran on the treadmill is 3 miles at a time. Well, I'm proud to say I managed to make it to 4.5 miles in one hour. I decided to jump up the speed to 7 and managed to finish up five miles in under 64 minutes. I ended up averaging about 12:00 pace. The foot feels okay at the moment. I'm sure it will be giving me trouble my the end of the day. It felt good to be running again. I'm now thinking about running this Saturday outside for a nice long run. I just hope the weather isn't too nasty outside. Anyone want to run with me?

Day 2: No Sugar Challenge

I'm happy to report that I managed to lose 1.5 lbs in one day. Oh, I can't wait. I'm almost to my one year anniversity of my weight loss journey. I have about 10 days to reach my weight loss goal. I still can't believe it. It's been a great year.

Day One

The first day of the challenge is coming to an end.

Here's my food journal:

Fruit smoothie

A bowl of oatmeal

Maria's for lunch...I did pretty good I ordered grilled chicken breast with mexican rice. I probably had way too many chips with salsa.

A couple of sliced Cucumbers

Fish, broccoli, and spinach salad with a little bit of dressing.

Peach yogurt

I managed to avoid sugar...it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I'm not sure how tomorrow will go but I'm going to keep working hard at it. I'm hoping to lose one or two pounds this week.

Also, I workout to hiphop abs total burn video and I ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I figured I burned close to 500 calories.

No Sugar Challenge

Christmas is over...Time to lose all that holiday weight gained over Christmas. I know that New Years Eve is coming up but I don't drink or party. So, that's not going to be an issue for me.

This week...of trying to lose the weight.

If you're like me...you have been binging on all those sugary treats and sweets. The first step will be to start to detox your body from all the sugar.

I thinking this wouldn't be too difficult. I have been eating so much Christmas candies and sweets. I'm almost sick of it all.

So, the frist step would be to remove all the temptations from the house. I will be getting rid of the Gingerbread house and all other sweets. I had Leroy put up all the Hawaiian Sun up high in the closet that way it wouldn't be a temptation.

I will try to go for the next six days without SUGAR. I will give myself one free day which will be SUNDAY but that doesn't mean I can binge on sweets either. Okay, I don't want to deprive myself but I don't want to go crazy either. Extremes are not healthy.

Okay, I will be posting every evening on how well I'm doing on the Sugar Challenge.

If you have a slip up, its okay but don't binge. Don't throw in the towel and decided to eat the whole bag of m & m's. Okay,if you get a craving try to drink at least 8 oz of water, read a book, or move away from the kitchen. Also, you could try to eat things that are naturally sweet like grapes or an apple with some peanut butter.

This will take some will power but it should get easier with time.

A Brand New Start

The new year is almost here. It's that time again...to plan my goals for the new year.

Well, I decided to try two new work out programs. I went ahead and order rock'n body by Shaun T. I'm not sure how much I will like these videos because it's more danced based. Dancing isn't my strong skills aren't the greatest but I know I will be sweat'n a ton so that's okay.

The second program I'm excited about starting up is Brazil Butt Lift. I'm really happy with my abs at the moment but working on my lower rear will be a good thing. After having three kids...I really could use some help in that area.

I'm hoping to start BBL program next week if it comes in the mail in time.

Also, it was really hard to get the results I wanted with hip hop abs due to over eating and eating all the wrong things over the holidays. I'm going to have be really good with my diet in order to get a good results. If you don't have the nutrition part down than you just won't get the results you want.

I started up running again on my treadmill. I did managed to run on the treadmill three times going 3 miles each time. I'm still experiencing a ton of pain in my right foot. I'm not sure about running a half marathon in March.

So, instead of running...I'm going to be focusing on my workout videos.

Maybe...I need to have the doctor look at my foot again.

Oh, also...I only have one more week left on hip hop abs. I still can't believe I'm about to start on week eight. Where did all the time go?

Also, I'm going to start this week eating a clean diet. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies.

I'm going to start my no sugar challenge as well. I'm sure I can keep this up.

New weight loss goal...I want to lose 5 pounds in five weeks. So, all I need to focus on is losing one pound each week. Should be a piece of cake. I just need to kick the sugar habit, eat as clean as possible, and watch my portion sizes...oh one more thing...I really need to stop eating after 7:00pm.

Okay...let's get started!

The Night Before Christmas...

I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. It looks like we will be having a white Christmas. This will be the first time in almost 9 years we have had a white christmas. I'm not sure if it will last long...I hope not. My neighbor is trying to move tomorrow on Christmas Day. They might have to wait a day...It's hard trying to get up and down these hills in Bella Vista when it's snowing outside.
Also, new challenge. I'm not going to step on the scale until Monday morning. I'm eating a ton of homemade treats and I'm just going to enjoy myself. If I ended up gaining a few pounds. It wouldn't be the end of the world. I can work extra hard and take off the weight.
So, I hope everyone has a nice xmas.

Christmas Eve

Happy to report...I lost two pounds. I weighed 131 yesterday...today I'm down to 129! I thought for sure I gained more weight...I ended up eating like crap. I had so much dinner...I was losing sleep over it. My hard work is paying off today. I'm going to be doing only one workout video...total body burn.

I have to make Sour Cream Twist, Toffee, Cashew crunch, and Christmas Eve Ham Dinner. Oh, it's going to be bad weekend.

I'm going to try hard not to stress out. I know for a fact...I can take off the weight.

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Oh, no!

I managed to gain another pound...I hate the holidays.

I'm trying hard not to freak out.

I know I can take off the weight. The goal this week is not to gain anymore weight.

Not sure if I will be successful.

Making Sour Cream Twist tomorrow.

Oh, boy...I think I'm going to be depressed.

Okay, I'm off to do Hip Hop Abs. Need to burn lots of calories...

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What started off as a good morning has turned into a complete nightmare...I managed to get in two workouts which was good. I managed to do the cardio burn 2 video and run on my treadmill.

Good thing...burned close to 500 calories

Bad Thing...My foot is killing me...I think my running career is over. The first time I have been running this whole month. Thinking my arch in my foot would be feeling better but it's worse.

Also, I asked landon to get off the computer so I could write up this post. Well, he was mad at me. He ran off to the kitchen and slammed a kicten cabinet which is now completely broken. I swear...I could kill him right now. Custom made cabinets can't be easily replaced.

We really want to get a bigger house but forgot it. I'm so sick and tired of the kids ruining the house.

So, now my day is a complete crap...I'm suppose to go out tonight for a girl's night out but I'm not sure now....OMGosh...I swear this day better get better.

What was I thinking?

Hello, I decided this morning to weigh myself and discovered I gained two pounds over the weekend. What!!!!! We managed to go out to eat at a Mexican restaurant. I wouldn't lie...I stuffed myself. Oh, ya...I stuffed myself at dinner last night as well. What was I thinking about trying to lose weight over the holidays. So, I'm back to 130 pounds. Darn't it. I'm so man at myself...so, what did I just do eat a ton of homemade toffee. I swear...I'm going to have to hit the treadmill later on today. I need to burn some serious calories.

Favorite Actress...

Let me preface by saying I'm not a huge movie buff. Leroy and I went on a date last night to the movies. I saw a preview for a new movie coming out about Sherlock Holmes which has my favorite actress. I first saw her in the Notebook...I love this girl. I really like her alot becuase we're the same age and she's so stink'n cute. So, can you guess who I'm talk'n about? Well, here are the pictures...

Look at her cute body...I hope someday I can look just as cute!

Racheal McAdams!!!!!!

Okay, you probably I have completely lost my mind but I just had to get this off my chest. I really love her as an actress and she's just so stink'n cute. I love some of her past roles.

exciting news

Well. we went out on a date tonight. We decided after dinner to stop by Kohls. Several pairs of my jeans are starting to get holes in the knees. I decided to head over to the women's dept and try on some new jeans. I was just about to grab size six jeans but decided at the last minute to try on size four. Well, I was suprised to be able to put them on with no problems. Now, let me explain...I already own a size four in low rise jeans from Gap. They are tight because they fit around my hips but I can fit into them. I decided to try on mid-rise jeans size four and I could zip them right up with no problems. I'm so excited to announced I'm official in size four jeans. Yippee!!!!!

update

meaurement:

It's important to make sure to measure your body...sometimes you don't lose weight but inches. I managed to lose another half inch off my waist line.

My pair of size four jeans fit but are still super tight. If I could lose another inch off my waist that should help the tightness.

Game Plan

While at Logan's preschool xmas party...I was informed of a half marathon race in Bentonville on March 13th. The mom I was talking said a group of moms from the preschool were getting together to run the race together. Yes, this is the moviation I need to get my butt moving again. I'm thinking once xmas is over...it's back to falling a training schedule...so, if you want to join us...just let me know. I'm thinking we might try to meet up during the week and run around lake bella vista while the kids are in school. Anyways...I'm excited. I really need my girl time and me time all at the same time. It's always more fun to run with friends than by yourself.

Week 6

One of my goals is to reach 125 pounds. I'm only a few pounds away from reaching my goal. I weighed myself this morning...I'm currently at 128.5 pounds. Yippee! My weight keeps flucating between 128 to 130. It's very fustrasting. I'm thinking about going back to calorie count com. I used it a lot earlier this year when I was trying to lose weight. A couple of months ago, I was down to 126 but I was running a lot burning a ton of calories. I'm thinking once, xmas is over...I'm going to start running again. If I can watch my food intake...I could drop a couple more pounds but I do like to eat. Oh, the drama.

I just checked with calorie count and this is what said about my calorie intake:

Results

You should consume about 1,708 calories a day to reach your goal weight of 125 lbs by January 29, 2010.Experts recommend weight loss at the rate of 0.5-2 lbs/week. Remember that this estimate is based on your body weight, height, age, gender, and activity level. It may vary slightly depending on other factors.Generally, women should not consume any less than 1,200 calories per day, and men should not consume less than 1,500 calories per day.

Well, looks like I can still eat quite a bit of food...so to starv'n myself. I just need to focus on eating less sweets and more fruit and veggies.

Okay, here's the pictures...from week four...not look'n too bad.

Week Four

Sorry, about the bad pictures...Logan is my little photographer. I'm not seeing to much of a difference. I'm thinking my sides are looking a lot better but I still have that mommy belly.

Excess skin gotta love it!

Week 6...Still look'n good.
Okay, Level 2 of Hip Hop Abs is super hard...I'm still struggling trying to learn all the new dance moves. I'm thinking about repeating level 2 30 day challenge. It's going to take more than eight weeks to get my six pack.

Nutrition

I decided to start cutting back on all the sweets and guess what I'm already starting to feel a ton better. Remember when your feel'n sluggish and down. Look at what you're eating. Fueling ones body can make the world of difference. I'm back to drinking my fruit smoothie shakes, eating baby spinach, and lots of veggies. Your body wants the good stuff straight from the earth. Not that overly process junk sold on every corner. I'm also drinking more water...hydration is also key.

What's miss'n in my life...

running!

I haven't been running for a couple of weeks. I didn't miss it at first but lately I have been really wanting to get into it. I'm still lov'n my new workout videos but it's not the same as running. At least at running, I have no distractions which means not having to stop to take care of the kids. I really miss the destressing factor of running. The best thing about running is "me time" and not feel'n getting for taking the time to run. The biggest issue is my stupid arch in my right foot. It's still giving me a ton of problems. I'm thinking I might need to start taping it up or see a doctor. I went from being burnt out on running to starting to miss'n it. I'm pretty sure I would be yelling less at the kids and enjoying the holidays a little bit better. Kinda like miss'n an old friend. Oh, well...I made a ton of xmas candies. The kids managed to trash the house again. I really need to hire a maid and nanny.

gotta run...

Feel'n bloated...

I'm feel'n not so hot about myself. Due to all the stress from getting ready for the holidays. I decided to focus on hip hop abs and drop all of my other workout programs. I'm eating a ton of sugar treats and I'm not feel'n so hot anymore. After christmas, I'm going to be hitting it super hard again. Tell me, I'm not the only one feel'n this way.

Merry Christmas

A huge improvement over last year's Christmas pictures! I'm look'n real good this year! I just hope next year is even better!

Strange and Funny things...

Due to being super busy with the holidays. I decided to cut back big time on my exercise routine. No more running, no more lifting weight, and no more Chalean. I'm just focusing on Hip Hop Abs. I come to realize that its a hard balance between having "me time" and "family time". I'm hoping once the holidays die down. I might be able to start up again with running or maybe not. Running outside in freezing cold weather doesn't seem to interest me at all.

Well, I had been struggling with losing a few pounds. I kept gaining and losing weight. I really didn't know what was going on. Well, I decided to cut out all the extra exercises and the weight is coming off.

I'm not eating great at the moment but not to bad. I think my biggest issue with working out some much. I felt so hungry all the time. Almost like the more calories I burned the more I wanted to consume.

So, far I have managed to lose two pounds and keep it off.

The abs are looking really good.

I started Level 2 of the program. I'm lov'n the new burn cardio cd. I felt like I burned close to 500 calories alone. The only bad thing about it is trying to learn all the new moves. I'm not a dancer so it takes time but it's not boring at all.

I can't wait to finish level 2 and move on to rock'n body!

Total Body Transformation!

I completely decided to change my life after seeing these christmas pictures. It's very painful to see how bad I let myself go after having three kids. I decided after seeing these pictures to start working out and getting in shape. I still can't believe it. I seem like a totally different person back than. I'm so much stronger and okay with myself now.

Hip Hop Abs

Holy Cow...look at my abs. This is from week four! Just look down to the next picture which is from week one. My abs are tighter, defined, and I can feel the muscle everywhere. The only thing that needs to go is all of the excess skin from having three babies. I'm so excited. Also, last week I measured at 31" waist and I'm proud to annouced I'm down on inche. My waist measurement is 30"! Yahoo...I love Shuan T.

Landon's official 5k time was 31:18! Not bad for the little guy...a pace of 10:06! No training at all.

Proudest Mommy Moment Ever

Due to being ill yesterday, I decided not to run. I decided to go down and pick up my race packet and t-shirt with the kids. I didn't realize that kids would be running in this run. I should of know it was called "girls on the run". I decided literally at the last second. To pin my bid number on Landon. We ran with him for the first couple hundred yards and we headed back to the van. I was very nervous about Landon running all by himself but he did an awesome job. I loaded up the other kids and we drove to the two mile marker. We decided to wait and see if we could see Landon running. I was so shocked when we saw him right away. Running in the front of the pack. We cheered him on and drove back to the finish line. We ran into a friend and were busy taking. I decided we better get to the finish line and watch for landon. I was shocked to see landon already in the finish line chute. The little guy had already finished. I don't know his official time but I'm sure its around 30 minutes. I figured he was running at 10:00 minute pace. Zero training...this kid has some serious talent.

Update

I'm working hard on three workout programs at once. Crazy. I love my new ab workout videos. Hip Hop Abs is fun, fast, and really works. My abs are getting so firm. I just finished my workout for the day. My tummy is starting to tighten up. I can't seem to find my tape measure but you can see the difference. I can't wait to finish the program. I'm sure I'm going to have some killer abs at the end of eight weeks.

Workout Confusion

1. Chalean Extreme
2. Hip Hop Abs
3. Running

I managed a total of four workouts this morning. Crazy! I can't keep up this routine. After this Saturday's 5k run. I'm going to take a break from running. My foot is still sore and I want to be able to make a full recovery.

I'm really regretting signing up for this race. I don't want to go but I already paid my fee. I'm going to do it. My last 5k race for the year of 2009.

I'm not expecting a good time. I haven't been running to much lately. I'm going to be doing for me. I'm going to focus on enjoying the run and not worry about my time.

It's going to be a great way to end the year.

So, far this has been the best year ever.

A great new body and confidence in myself.

Time to move unto other workout programs.

I want killer abs...

happiness

Happiness is a choice. I make the choice everyday. I'm in control of myself. It's up to me. Time to get my priorities in order. Somethings will have to go! somethings need to be committed to! Commit, decide, and succeed.

Make Up Week

After a couple of rough days, I decided to hit it hard this morning. The kids proved to make things difficult. My first workout video is only 32 minutes long but it ended up taking me a full hour to complete. The kids kept interfering with my workout. It seemed like every two minutes, I had to pause my video. I'm trying a new thing. I'm making sure the kids are dress and chore charts done before working but I'm not sure if that's going to work. I realized if I'm working out first thing in the morning, the kids get busy playing than they don't want to do their chore charts. I'm going to look maybe into waking up at 5:00 in the morning and getting my workout done before the kids wake up. So, I'm going to have to tweek somethings around.

I didn't work out yesterday, so I decided to go ahead and do one of my hip hop abs videos. I still have to find some time later on today. I'm running in a 5k this Saturday and I'm not prepared at all. Due to my foot injuries I took off from running last week. I'm going to try to hit the trailmill later this afternoon.

So, I'm trying to squeeze in three workouts in one day.

Also, I'm going to be running in the Rock N Roll Chicago half marathon with my friend Paun. It's not until next year. We will drive up and stay with her sister in the city.

I'm really going to try to stay on the postivie side of things.

Now, I have to work out decluttering the house and getting it cleaned.

Also, I'm making onion gravy, meat patties, and boiled potatoes for dinner.

Sunday, November 15, 2009

rough week

My foot is feeling better. Emotional having a difficult time this weekend. I feel like I'm going crazy and my hubby keeps ignoring me. I'm about to have it out with him. I'm not sure what's wrong with me but I feel very off at the moment. I think running off some steam will help me feel better. I'm running in a 5k this Saturday. I'm going to focus on Chalean and running this week. I will try to throw in some Ab workout if I can find the time.

Thursday, November 12, 2009

No Running

The arch in my right foot is still killing me. I'm hoping to make a full recover by the end of the week. So, no running but I'm still working out. I'm kinda enjoying the break from running. Shaun T. is giving me a great calorie burning exercrise. So, for everyone is wanting to running but can't due to injuries. It sucks but hopefully it will only be temp. situation.

Hip Hop Abs

For the next eight weeks, I'm going to be focusing on getting rid of my baby belly fat. Last week, I focused hard on avoiding sugar. I managed to lose two pounds. Just two days ago, I couldn't fit into my size four jeans but they fit today! I'm posting this pictures so I can document my progress. The abs look way better than they did just a couple of months ago.

What's Happening this week

I finish last week on a strong note.

I was able to go without sugar for the first six days. Yesterday, I couldn't keep my hand out of the halloween candy bag. I decided that I would give myself every Sunday to eat whatever I wanted. I'm thinking about going back on my Body For Life diet again. I know it works because I'm eating to much food and gaining weight.

I'm going to try to stay way from sugar this week. If I allow myself one day a week than it wouldn't feel like punishment.

The 9k trail run...kicked my butt. Every muscle in my legs is killing me. I was worried about working out this morning. It was hard but I feel good. I'm going to stay away from running for a couple of days to fully recover. I ended up hurting my other foot. It's my arch maybe I need to start taping up my foot.

I did the run in a slow time but it was the best I could do. I gave it my all. I did fall down once but I managed to grab hold of a small tree to someone save myself. I did it in one hour and seven minutes. Every muscle hurts. It's good to challenge onself.

I'm thinking about getting a garmin. I really need to work on pacing myself better. I can start off and endd very fast but the middle always sucks for me.

I'm still waiting for my new workout videos to arrive. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep doing Chalean videos along with Hip Hop Abs video. I will see....

Thanks, for reading. I have to take Logan to preschoo. Sewing circle is meeting at my house this morning!

Day 5-Sugar Challenge

I just wanted to update everyone about my progress with the sugar challenge. I have had no candy, pop, or desserts this whole week. I did cheat a little bit. I did have a little bit of my hawaiian jelly and ate a garnola bar. Each day the cravings are becoming a little bit less. Everytime I start to get a craving for sugar. I would just eat food. I'm starting to just try to drink a ton of water and see if that helps with the cravings.

I'm also proud to announced that I have lost one pound. I really wanted to lose another pound this week but I'm not sure if that will happen. One pound a week will be a fine goal.

As a reward for losing one pound so far this week. I went ahead and order Hip Hop Abs off of Ebay. I'm hoping to lose some inches off my waist line. This is the one area of my body I can't stand. I feel go about everything else but the waist line. I'm really hoping Shaun T. will be my answer to my problems.
Also, tonight I'm going to take the kids down to the square to sign us up for the Slaughter Pen Jam. I'm going to run in my first trail run of six miles. The boys will be running in the cross country and mt. bike race. The weather is suposse to be super nice over the weekend. I gotta finish up this weeks working out schedule. I currently have Chalene on pause.

No Sugar Challenge

After binging this weekend on Halloween candy and gaining close to two pounds. I decided it's time to lose some weight and kick this sugar habit! I'm going to try to avoid sugar all week long.

The only thing I did wrong is I had a little bit of my homemade pumpkin pie. It's all gone so no more temptation.

I have avoided all candy and cookies!

Halloween 5k and more...

Just finished racing in my first halloween fun run! It was so much fun to see everyone dressed for the race. The weather outside was chilly cold. My toes were numb for most of the race but it didn't rain. I'm not sure if I would of done it, if it had rained.

All week long I debated whether to run in the race or not! I signed up the boys but not me. I tossed and turned all night long. I finally decided to go for it. My foot has been giving me trouble for the past couple of weeks. So, I called my old running partner this morning for a ride and she gladly picked me up!

We ended up arriving early for the race. I wasn't sure how I would do during the race. Like I said it had been a couple of weeks of not running. I did manage in two small runs but I didn't think I would do well during the race. I ended up surprising myself. My feet and toes were numb but I did a great job.

Towards, the end of the race...I noticed my friend "m' was running behind me. I was getting a little bit concerned she was going to past me. I decided to step it up a notch and push myself even faster. Soon, we were neck to neck...Oh, no! I can't let her past me. I decided to break out in one of my full spend sprints at the finish line. I swear it was the closes call ever. I think I past her by two seconds. I know she wasn't to please with me passing her but it made things interesting. I don't think I would of had such a good time: 28:20! It's not my fastes time but it was decent. I really haven't ran much since my half marathon.

After, my race the boys did the 1/2 K race. The boys did an awesome job. Landon ended being in the front of the pack for his age group and Logan came in second place for his group. Landon started off right in the front but I think he started off to fast and had to slow done a little bit towards the end. I'm so proud of my boys. They did GREAT.

Also, the award ceremony. I ended up coming second place for my age group. I didn't think it would of happened. Overall, a great way to start Halloween!

Where do I start?

The trip to Hawaii was a complete blast except for the part of my hubby being sick with a sinus infection. A full week with no kids. Just a week without kids would be awesome but going to Hawaii made it even better.

Just about every morning, I would wake up and walk about three blocks to Kailua beach to watch the sunrise and stretch my legs. I literally would roll out of my bed still in my pj's and put on my running shoes. The first couple of days my feet were really hurting me. So, I decided to stick to my running shoes for extra support. I was messing around one morning waiting for the sun to come up on the beach. I was trying to take a picture of my shoes but I miss judge the tide. Next thing, I knew my feet were covered in water and sand. Talk about a mess. The shoes still have sand in them.

After a couple of days, my feet started to feel a lot better. We managed to hikes in one day. I felt AWESOME! It's the most amazing thing. The hikes were breathing taking. The pictures do it no justice. Just check out my other blogs, if you want the full story and pictures, click here!

The hardest part of the trip was no running. I swear everyone runs in Hawaii. Every morning in Kailua I was shocked at the number of people I saw running on the beach on the streets. I so wanted to join them but I was good. We are hoping on going back next year. Hopefully, I wouldn't be injured and I will be able to sneak in a couple of morning runs.
Even though my hubby wasn't feelin good. He was good sport. He thought I was trying to kill him. We managed to go kayating, snorkeling, and hiked three trails. After losing all the weight. My hubby gave me the most awesome reward! It was like being on a second honeymoon. It was so nice, to be able to do whatever I wanted without having to worry about three kids. Highly recommend it doing this more often.

So, I'm done with my goals, I have lost the weight, and I'm stuck. The weather since coming back home has totally sucked. It's been cold and rainy. This morning, the sun finally came out. I decided to hit the trail with leah. Wow, it was so hard. Pushing a jogging stoller is so tough. Oh, I only managed two times around the lake. I'm not sure if I still want to keep up the whole running thing over the winter.

I'm still planning on running the Little Rock marathon in the spring. I really need to stay off my foot to let it heal properly. So, I'm hitting my Chalean Extreme videos hard this week. I decided to look into Shaun T.'s Hip Hop Abs videos. I have a hard time seeing myself working to hip hop music and trying to dance to it. We will see...the only real complaint about myself is my tummy. Three kids did a really good number on that area of my body. I'm happy with everything else but my tummy. So, I just put a bid on ebay for a used set. It should make things interesting.

Aloha Friday!

Tomorrow, Leroy and I are leaving for our trip to Hawaii. All year long, I have been working on losing weight and getting back into shape. I'm proud to say my reward is a trip to Hawaii without the kids. This will be the first time leaving the kids for one whole week.

We are renting a large studio in Kailua. The studio is about three blocks away from this beach! OMGish, I can't wait! I'm planning on doing lots of swimming, snorkeling, and body boarding.

Oh, I did managed to gain a couple of pains this week due to my foot injury. I decided yesterday, I need to lose those three pounds before leaving on Friday. I managed to lose one pound. I went 70% raw, no meat, and I did cheat a little bit. I decided to hold off from running and focus on my Chalean Extreme program. I was hoping to run along the beach but my foot might not let me do that. I'm going to be taking lots of pain killers to dual the pain.

So, I wouldn't be back for a week. I will post pictures. Leroy came down with a cold, I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a sinus infection. I still hope we are able to have a fun trip. Oh, we have several fun hikes plan and we are planning on spending a day a PCC. It should be fun.

Aloha,
lara

Foot Problems

Saturday morning, I went for a nice long run. I had done the half marathon the Saturday before and decided to take the whole week off to recover. By Saturday, I was itching to go for a nice long run. I decided to take it easy and just do six miles. Everything, we went well. I thought...So, later that day, Leroy took to out to a movie. After the movie ended, we got up to leave and I noticed the side of my foot was killing me. We wanted to go to Walmart after dinner/movie but my foot was killing me. I ended up icing it all day yesterday. I just got up and not's my side of my foot but my bottom of my heel is killing me. I didn't know pain could spread. I'm going to try to take it easy today. If things don't get any better by tomorrow than I'm going to the doctor. We're leaving on Friday for Hawaii. We're planning on doing a lot of hiking. I just hope my foot can completely heal or my trip is going to be no fun.

Race Report

I ended up hurting the arch in my right foot about two weeks ago. I bought a new pair of shoes ended up running to long in the shoes before breaking them in properly. I debated all week long whether I should attempt to run my first marathon or wait for the next one which is in two month. All night long, I wrestled with the idea of not going. Leroy didn't want me to run. He was really worried I would hurt myself. At the last minute, I decided to get up around 6:00am and get dressed for the race.

I didn't do any prep work at all. Trying to look for your running clothes in the dark is really hard. I ended up dumping all of my drawers out and never did find any of my dri-fit shirts to wear. I ended up going with a pair of biker shorts with a race t-shirt which is all cotton. Next thing, I knew it was time to leave to drive to Springdale to the baseball stadium for the race.

It ended up being super cold outside this morning around 44 degrees. I ended up throwing on my old BYUH sweatshirt from my college days. After, getting my bib number. I decided to go back to my van and wait for the race to start. I was busy working on my knitting and I heard an announcement. Due to being in my van, I could not hear the announcement very well. I kept on knitting. I soon realized I didn't see any runners around me waiting in their cars. Oh, no! It's almost time to start the race. I managed to do a fast jog up to the starting line. Wow, that was a close one.

I ended up running into Leroy's Co-worker Ed. I didn't know he was running in this half marathon. It was nice to see someone I knew at the race. My running partner ended up not being able to run with me do to having family in town.

The race started off to a good start. I managed to do a 8:40 pace. I decided to run with this pack of one guy and two girls. He was shouting out how fast our pace was and how many miles we had gone. No mile markers. We decided we were going too fast so we all slowed down to 9:40 minute pace. It was seriously the prefect pace for me. Not too fast but not too slow. I stuck with them around for the first five miles but they ended up pasting me going up this huge hill. Oh, yes! Lots, lots, of hills. Not an easy course. I kept at that pace for most of the race.

I decided at each station and get some water. They had this other drink but it wasn't Gatorade. I decided not to risk it and just drink water. I ended up using two power jells which I have never used before but loved it. Gave me the boost I needed to finish the course.

Not much happened until around mile 9 I started to notice this weird pain in the back of my leg and knee area. I literally had to stop running. We had to run up this huge hill straight up. I decided to just walk it all the way up to the top. Just about everyone around me was walking at this point. This is where I ended up losing a lot of time.

I made it up to the top of the hill and decided to try to jog at a very slow pace. Slowly but surely I started to feel a lot better. The closer I was to finishing. I picked up my pace. I tried to sprint it in to the finish line but it was more like a fast job more than anything.

I was hoping to run this course around 2 hours but I managed to make it in 2:23! I'm still very proud of myself. Ed was waiting for me to cross the finished line which was really nice of him. I told him about my leg pain and he told me it was lactic muscle build up. He told me next I need to make sure to drink Gatorade that would take care of the problem next time.

Come to find out they weren't passing out Gatorade but cliff water. I didn't touch it because I didn't know what it was. Next time, I will just wear a water belt and bring my own stuff to drink. I had brought a bottle of Gatorade but decided not to run with it. I had to run the hold time with my keys in one hand and I didn't want to carry the bottle in my other hand.

Oh, well...Lesson learned!

My next half marathon is in November around Thanksgiving time.

I'm going to bring my own gartorade and have a killer time.

I'm so proud of myself.

Now, I need to start thinking about running a marathon next year!

On the run...

This morning we headed out the door to attend our very first trail run. I really wanted to run the 9 mile trail run by myself but due to my half marathon being a week away. I decided it would be better to do the three mile run/hike with the kids. I didn't want to take a chance twisting my ankle. My foot is still killing me. My half marathon might end up being a disaster.

It ended up being really cold this morning. The boys were not happy about being cold. They gave us these cool wrist bands to wear. After we got ours on we headed back to the van to try to stay warm until the race started.
A small group turned out for the trail run. The boys turned out to be the youngest to run the 3 mile run. Landon did an awesome job. He started out in the front of the pack. I kind you not. He was even in front of the rush running guys. The little guy managed to run several hundred feet at super fast speed. He ended up stopping because he was thirsty. Logan only managed to run for a few seconds when he had to stop because his legs were hurting him. Dilemma...Landon wanted to run but Logan wanted to walk. So, Landon ran into front of me, I was in the middle, and Logan was behind me walking. Logan was very complaining. It was not easy for him. The little guy is only 5. The majority of the run we ended up just hiking.

Towards, the end of the run. Landon decided to go on ahead of us. He managed to find his way back to the finish line. I was worried he would go the wrong direction but he didn't. Landon said as he approached the finished line. He was running right next to a real runner. Landon said he waved and said "hello, goodbye". The little guy took off in a full blown sprint to the finish line. He came in before the runner. Landon was so excited.

Logan and I managed to finally get to the finish line and we made a mad sprint to the finish line. After, the race they had a nice assortment of fruit, drinks, and cookies. Yes, cookies. This is the one thing that kept Logan going. He wanted his cookies. I think he had about five or six cookies at the end.

The cool thing about the race, they gave everyone a plague. For each run, you get a sticker to put on the plaque. The kids will be able to earn three more stickers to complete their plaques. They can't wait. Logan asked if we could go back next weekend to earn another sticker.

Landon and Logan ended up being the youngest runners for the three mile race. The guy asked who were the youngest runners. One guy said he was at the age of 31. Another person said "12". I finally made Logan hold up his hand and Landon put up his hand. So, at the age of 5 and 7. They were able to get these special water bottles from Pak Rat.

Here are the boys plaques to hang up in their rooms from the big race day. The boys are so proud of themselves.

Also, I had so many people come up to me and said how proud they were of the boys for doing the three mile course. It wasn't easy but so worth it. I had several runners come up and tell me that Landon's a natural at running. He started off the race strong and finished strong. I felt a little bit out of place at first but everyone loved the fact that I'm getting my kids involved at running at a young age.
